The Need

Communication is an integral part of modern living. Being able to communicate remotely with other people is not only a necessity but improves the well being of an individual and wealth of a society as a whole.

However, today over 60% of the world population, or approximately 4.0 billion people, do not subscribe to cellular phone services due to the prohibitive cost of purchasing a handset and the associated minimum airtime fees (in relation to their monthly disposable income).

Furthermore, due to lack of sufficient infrastructure investments, theft and vandalism, a significant portion of this segment of the population does not have access to telecommunication services via traditional landlines or public payphones.

CellNetS recognized this huge untapped market potential and developed a proprietary cellular public telephony system, the SimPhony System. The SimPhony System brings affordable telecommunication solutions to this market. At the same time it enables local cellular operators to attract current non-cellular users and significantly increase their airtime revenues, subscriber base and network utilization, all at minimal incremental cost to them.

CellNetS believes its universal-access public cellular payphone system offers cellular operators the opportunity to introduce a large portion of the population to the benefits of personal phone service through a universal access system, and creates additional revenue streams for operators when growth rates of traditional phone subscription may be slowing down or even declining. It also offers the cellular operators the means to meet government guidelines or regulations for improving access to telecommunications.
